Where learning becomes global!
Thanks to our new partnership with SKALS Efterskole, we are proud to offer students at Tommerup Efterskole the opportunity to study for, and sit, the International GCSE exam in English (IGCSE).
Cambridge IGCSE is taken in over 150 countries, 9000 schools and by about 1.5 million students. It is widely recognised by higher education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic ability (Cambridge IGCSE is equivalent to the GCSE, for 16 year olds, in the United Kingdom).
Aims
To give our students :
- The ability to communicate confidently in both the
written and spoken forms of English.
- The opportunity to sit an IGCSE exam – a real bonus
on a CV.
- The opportunity to better understand the world
around them.
- Easier access to studying or working abroad.
Teaching
The students will:
- Follow the curriculum prescribed by Cambridge
University.
- Be expected to take responsibility for the speed
at which work through the IGCSE Coursebooks.
- Be expected to speak English all the time in the
IGCSE classroom (also to each other).
- Work mostly alone, however there will be some
group discussion work.
- Use the internet to follow, discuss and make
presentations about, important International News
headlines.
Additional Information
- Students wishing to study the IGCSE will be given an
Introductory Test at the start of the year to assess
their suitability for the IGCSE course.
- Den indledende test i starten af forløbet har til formål
at vurdere to ting: 1) Elevens faglige niveau og hvor de
"er henne" og 2) En afklaring af hvad der skal til, for at
eleven vil kunne gennemføre prøven.
- A Lap-top computer and good English/Danish,
Danish/English dictionaries will be needed.
- The IGCSE consists of a written and an oral exam, the
dates of which are fixed internationally by Cambridge
University (usually April/May).
- Students choosing IGCSE English will receive 2 lessons
each week throughout the year.
- The IGCSE course will be run by Mark Bradford, B.Ed.
Nottingham Trent University, England.
